Time to test: Moodle 2.0 RC2

Was poking around Moodle.org to see if there’s been any new releases and found that Moodle 2.0 is onto RC2 now with release marked for sometime in the next week or so!
As our current dev server was getting a bit messy I decided to reinstall with Linux and run Moodle 1.9 and 2.0 side-by-side to start testing the new release and see what we’d need to do to transition over (theme rather important for us what with being our website and quite heavily customised in places).
Installation went fine, first impressions aren’t mind-blowing, although that’s always the same with a basic Moodle installation, the blank base isn’t where the innovation comes in, it’s what clever stuff you do afterwards! The new HTML editor is much fresher and in itself would be a good reason to move! Going to investigate repositories next as its something that our staff are already asking for after using Moodle for only a few months… will be interesting to see how that feature works in 2.0
Check back for more updates as I get time to delve deeper into this important new Moodle release 🙂
